From the mystical elven forests to the towering human cities, the attention to detail is awe-inspiring. The sheer diversity of environments keeps exploration feeling fresh, enticing players to uncover the secrets that lie within.

Engaging Storyline: More Than Just a Game

While many MMORPGs relegate the storyline to a mere backdrop, TERA intertwines narrative seamlessly with gameplay. The game's lore is rich and immersive, offering players a chance to become part of a captivating epic. With quests that are not just tasks but integral chapters in an unfolding saga, TERA elevates the storytelling aspect of MMORPGs.

TERA: The Exiled Realm of Arborea - Unveiling the Epic Legacy

Welcome to the epic universe of TERA: The Exiled Realm of Arborea, a groundbreaking MMORPG that has left an indelible mark on the gaming landscape. In this comprehensive exploration, we delve into the rich tapestry of TERA's development, gameplay, lore, and its eventual transition from a PC powerhouse to the vibrant world of consoles.

Origins and Evolution

Inception and Early Triumphs

TERA, acronymic for The Exiled Realm of Arborea, emerged from the creative crucible of Bluehole Studio, a subsidiary of the esteemed Krafton. Released in South Korea on January 25, 2011, and subsequently in North America on May 1, 2012, TERA swiftly garnered attention for its innovative real-time battle system and breathtaking graphics.

Shaping the Destiny: Renaming and Expanding

In a strategic move in February 2013, the game underwent a transformation, rebranded as TERA: Rising, embracing the free-to-play model. Simultaneously, the game's narrative expanded with the introduction of the Fate of Arun patch in September 2014, unlocking a new continent and elevating the level cap.

Expanding Horizons: Consoles and Crossplay

TERA's journey transcended the realm of PCs, gracing PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on April 3, 2018, under the banner of En Masse Entertainment. The game's trajectory took an unexpected turn in September 2020, as En Masse Entertainment bid farewell, passing the baton to Krafton for the console version, and Gameforge for the PC iteration.

The console version carved its unique path, introducing the eagerly awaited Crossplay Feature in mid-November 2020, fostering an environment where PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players could seamlessly unite in battle. The promise of enhanced graphics on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S during the Holidays of 2020 further solidified TERA's commitment to a cross-generational and cross-platform gaming experience.

The Grand Finale: Bluehole's Decision

In a somber announcement on April 20, 2022, Gameforge revealed that the curtain would fall on TERA's PC servers on June 30, 2022. Bluehole Studio, the visionary force behind TERA, decided to cease work on the game, leaving players on PC with a treasure trove of memories, while console servers continued to thrive.

Unraveling the Gameplay

Combat Innovation: Non-Target Battle System

TERA revolutionized MMORPG combat with its Non-Target Battle System. Players, armed with a cross-hair cursor, engaged enemies in real-time, requiring active dodging and strategic maneuvers. The keyboard and mouse or a control pad granted players precise control over their characters, fostering an immersive and dynamic gameplay experience.

Diverse Races and Classes

TERA's universe unfolded through seven distinct races, each allied with the Valkyon Federation. These races boasted unique "racial skills," offering nuanced advantages. Complementing the diverse races, the game featured 13 classes, each endowed with distinctive abilities and attributes, ensuring a varied and engaging journey for players.

The Tapestry of Lore

Dreaming Titans: Birth of Arborea

At the core of TERA's lore lie the titans Arun and Shara, whose dreams birthed the Exiled Realm of Arborea. The emergence of god-like beings and mortals catalyzed epic wars, leading to the formation of alliances that persist in the face of otherworldly threats. TERA's lore intricately weaves a tale of dreams, wars, and alliances, creating a captivating narrative backdrop.

Development Evolution

TERA's evolution, marked by key milestones, includes its transition to TERA: Rising in 2013, embracing a "freemium" design. The introduction of the gunner class, level cap expansions, and open-world boss systems in subsequent patches showcased a commitment to evolving gameplay and keeping the player experience dynamic.

Critical Reception and Global Impact

TERA has etched its name in the annals of MMORPG history, garnering favorable reviews for its action-based gameplay, expansive world, and dynamic combat. With over 28 million players worldwide as of 2018, the game's impact is undeniable. Despite criticisms of quest grind and Nexus Wars, TERA's reception underscores its enduring appeal.

Legal Battles and Triumphs

The journey of TERA was not without legal challenges. NC soft's civil action against Bluehole Studio, alleging trade secret misappropriation, added a layer of complexity. The legal saga concluded with En Masse Entertainment exoneration in April 2012, although six employees were found guilty.

In the wake of TERA's legacy, from its South Korean inception to a global phenomenon, we witness the dynamic evolution of a game that defied norms. As the virtual realms of Arborea bid farewell on PC, console servers stand as a testament to the enduring spirit of TERA, forever etched in the hearts of millions.

Join us in celebrating the legacy of TERA, where dreams manifested into a realm of unparalleled adventure, forging a saga that will resonate through the corridors of gaming history.

Tera Online Alliance Patch

The Alliance patch brings a whole new type of game-play to Tera Online and while we patiently wait for it I thought I would go ahead and explain some of the great features that we are going to be getting when this wonderful patch is going to release hopefully sometime either this month or next month.

The very first change will be the revamp of the political system in Tera Online I think by now everyone who has been in a vanarch guild at some point within Tera or has voted for a guild. This system has many flaws. One of which is that any level 40 account can vote for who ever so with free to play it made it possible for people with multiple accounts to vote. Buying votes and all sorts of other ways of winning where also used in this system.

The change to the alliance system makes it so there's three cities Kaitor, Velika, and Allementhia and each of these are a different faction. Each faction has a color Velika is red, Allemanthia is green and Kaitor is blue. Each area has a home base of the respected color above and the enemy's will be attacking these bases.

Each map will have repeatable quests that allow you to gather things you will need for new gear, potions of invisibility, nocternium shards.

The shards give the following bonuses:
  • 3~8% damage increased on certain skills for all classes except healers following skills:
Warrior - Combative Strike / Blade draw / Scythe / Rain of Blows / Cascade of Stuns
Lancer - Shield Barrage / Spring Attack / Wallop / Debilitate
Slayer - Overhand Strike / Heart Thrust / Know-down Strike / Measured Slice / Whirlwind
Berserker -- Thunder Strike / Flatten / Cyclone / Vampiric Blow / Evasive Smash
Sorcerer - Fire-blast / Flaming Barrage / Magma Bomb / Void Pulse / Hail Storm
Archer - Rain of Arrows / Explosion Trap / Penetrating Arrow / Radiant Arrow / Arrow Volley

  • 3~8% Aggro increased for lancers for the following skills:
Lancer -- Challenging Shout
  • MP regen, attack speed increase, and others for healers following skills:
Priest -- 100 MP Regen every 2 seconds on Regen Circle
50 MP Regen on restorative burst
Energy stars increases damage on target by 10% for next skill
-HP increase with mana charge
Mystics - Auras use less mana, Titanic favor creates a 4K health shield, increased HP Regen on warding totem

Of these factions Consul's take control over the faction and these are not elected by votes instead they are elected by participating in the area's event's and dailies. This makes it so as a guild you would want to make sure your playing in one of the more active guilds on the server not the guild with three people on everyday more like 20+ daily. Battles verse the opposing factions will give contribution points during the territory battles which will take place. The competition to be elected consul is two weeks; two weeks in which you collect points. In the second week, your guild master can register to run for consul if he feels fit. Consul's power lasts 2 weeks. Guild-masters select an alliance to join. Each alliance has their own meeting house outside their respective city. You can only PVP against the enemy faction inside the alliance PVP maps.

These battles work like so:

  • Stealing resource's or stopping invaders from stealing your alliances resources
  • Invading enemies posts or defending your own posts. Posts left undefended can cripple the controls of the Consul.

Crystal Capping:
One of the methods of gaining points for Political power you also get a quest to cap them.
You can only cap them on maps of the opponent factions.

Maps are filled with BAM's and mini bosses which you will need to complete your quests to help you gain the gear.

The Consul elected controls not only taxes for one small area of the map but all of the area's of the faction of that continent making it a very powerful position to hold within the server. The consul of a faction has the authority to provide buffs to other alliance members. The consul is able to elect commanders to take control over each of the cities each of these cities.

Powers of the consul:
  • Collect Taxs
  • Allocate stores
  • Provide power to others
  • Adjust success rate of enchantments
  • Next Patch: Steal tax from opponent alliances.
Point system for gaining Consul:
  • Kill crystal in enemy base: 51 points
  • Kill BAMs for alliance -- 42 points
  • Alliance monster hunt quest- 20 points
  • PK enemy -- 2 points
  • PK assist -- 1 points
  • Leveling gives points
  • Other ways, see patch notes.
Guilds that are inactive will not be able to apply and win consul for an area because of the point system above is how a guild goes about applying and winning consul. So the object is to be in the largest active guild. One of my friends on ktera originally was not in an active guild at the time so she was unable to participate in much of the content for the alliance patch. So it would be wise to find a better home with an active number of players that enjoy PvP daily.

The guild leader can pick which faction to be apart of by going to one of the main cities and registering with the faction officers located in the headquarters section. The cost for joining an alliance is 1,000 gold and you can switch alliances but that has a 6 hour cool-down and you'll have to pay the fee every time you switch the points accumulated also gets reset when you switch.

Once you join one of the alliances then you are able to fight the other two alliances. Battling these alliances can only be done in one of two instanced area's there are portals within the headquaters which allow you to warp to these new locations. Each of the 3 new area's it allows you to warp to are for each of the factions above. If you warp into an enemy's area you will spawn at a base camp and if you warp to your own factions area you will port inside of the fortress. Each area has one fortress and two base camps the two base camps are for the enemy factions.

The npc's inside of the fortress need to be protected by the faction they are controlled by. Some quests will require the enemy factions to kill these same NPC's and will make it impossible for the defending parties to pick up and turn in quests crippling the area. Capturing Fortresses will require more then just your own guild unless you are doing it during the night when most people are offline.

The fortress can be defended by guards and and cannons and fences after a town has been captured there is a two hour delay before crystals can be captured again. The largest amount of quests will be obtained from the fortresses while the base camp's will not have as many quests. The group quests reward more then the solo quests.

You can steal nocternium extractors you can capture these from the other alliances to earn points. At most there is only 300 nocternium extractors by default each alliance has 100 of them but you can steal them from the other alliances for your own to earn more points they are also the biggest sources of PvP in Ktera. There are also rare loot finds off of monsters which can also be used for earning points.

PvP has diminishing returns and cool-downs to prevent friendly guilds from opposite factions from farming each other. Any points that you earn will go to your guild leader in order for him to collect enough points for consul. The consul cycle lasts four weeks the first two weeks are the farming enough consul points in order for a guild to become consul of the respective faction. Then the consul has control over the faction for two weeks. At the end of week one the guild master can apply to be consul by paying gold in the alliance headquarters. If you have the most consul points but did not apply for the position you will not get consul so you have to apply in order to get consul. After you apply another farming week continues and after that week the guild that collected the most points becomes the consul. After the two weeks the points get reset and the system starts all over again.

One commander is given the power to summon teleportals and allows them to summon teleports to attempt sneaky tactics against the enemy factions. The defense commander has the power to summon guards, cannons, and walls. The supply commander can summon a merchant NPC for that alliance. The alliance commander get access to a specialty vendor, special skills, and a mask that gives special bonus stats. Consul gets a special mask with bonus stats too. These commanders can receive special funds from the consul.

There is a role in the alliance called elite alliance members each alliance has a cap of 80 elite members. The elite members spot is dedicated to the players who have earned the most points for their alliance. These elite alliance members get access to a lesser specialty store that sells war flags which when used buff nearby alliance players with defense, movement speed, and damage depending on the flag used. They can only be used inside the new area's.

Average players will want to participate in order to collect powder and crystals items you can use them to form upgrades for specific skills. These skill upgrades are located above and how they are effected. The strength of the upgrade will require you to hope for good RNG rolls for these skills.

Monster summoning sticks can be obtained by combining some items which drop from some of the local BAM's and monsters that you find in the area. They are low quality and high quality sticks and they are used to summon monsters that drop loot which will help you craft new gear. These monsters are designed for 20 man teams so you will need to grab your friends to help you when defeating them. This new gear helps people without conjunct gear have a way to catch up to the current system. This system works similar to that of dead branches and bloody branches that where used to summon monsters in Ragnarok Online.

New training grounds can be entered by the headquarters of each alliance. The training grounds is a dungeon and your entry is limited per day by your rank and points in that alliance and what the consul has set it too at that time. Inside the training ground you can fight monsters in a solo or group environment to earn more stuff to make the new gear, obtain the powder items, and obtain new rings and accessories like necklaces.

The new alliance resources your consul can allocate to you are used to purchase potions for invisiblity potions, timed bombs, land mines, slowing and stunning bombs and also flash grenades to allow players to develop interesting stratagies in the PvP. The consul can control who can obtain these and some can be bought based on your rank.

Many things have been changing frequently for the alliance patch but this should at least give some idea's of what to expect for the new upcoming alliance patch. I apologize for it being such a long post but there's a lot of very interesting information that needed to be covered for this since we are expecting this patch to be coming soon to a NA server near you.

Tera Online Guilds

Guild's in Tera Online have existed since the start of the game. People join guilds for different reasons whether it is to have fun playing with other people. To enjoy end game content or to enjoy the various PvP aspects of the game. What ever the reason each guild will be built differently and will have different things that motivate the players that join to continue to play. Some newer players may not see a purpose in joining a guild because they might prefer soloing over being a social type of player. And while soloing might work fine in most games Tera's guild interactions do make the game much more fun.

Originally when I first joined Tera Online during the open beta test which was a week before the game was released I had no intention of making a guild at first cause I really was not the leader type of person. It was more my friend Prozac who really wanted to make a guild and she wanted to make our old guild from conquer online which was called Dragonfury. I went along with the idea since it was the three of us and she was really excited to play the game.

Then once it released she did not have the time to invest in building a guild so she gave me guild leader and was like you recruit people I'm antisocial and you know I won't talk to people. Most of our old members of Dragonfury only joined out of the fear that "Daisyanne" her old character name would kill them over and over if they did not join. So the method of recruiting could not stay the same because in Tera you never really lose anything when someone kills you and you can hide in towns conquer online was not like that it was a free for all except in the market place.

At first I had no idea how to recruit people so I pretty much kept it simple and just did all my recruiting person to person. I always found it annoying to have to spam global chats trying to recruit people. Not to mention global is always filled with trolls and people that have 5th grade educations who usually spam like "LF GUILD!!!!" and usually don't want anything other then just being in a guild without much of a reason why they want to be in it. Some people might think this method of recruiting is a slow and one doomed to fail but believe it or not I've not just built a guild. I have put together a family of players which come from all different places and have strong bonds because of the valuable personalities I gathered along the way.

Even with the guild's success a guild is still a revolving door and people will leave because ideals change the demands of a player will also change. And then there's also the guilty by association players who associate with people that make them change in some negative way such as having a problem with helping new players, feeling that they are better then the rest of the guild, or wanting to be in a try hard guild. These try hard guilds feel that they need to have perfect players and try so hard to be the best but in the end these are the guilds that are filled with the most drama. Players who join and do not realize the type of guild it is then die in PvP get kicked or insulted without never knowing the reason. Many of these types of guilds are sexist to the female players thinking they are some lesser of a player just because they are female.

Ever since wow came in most players have developed some sexist feelings towards female players and while global would say something like girls do not play on the internet Tera Online has many more female players then most mmorpg's in past years at least many that will admit to playing as a female which no girl should be afraid to admit.

Dragonfury will always be that unique guild that enjoys the company of female players treats them just as good as any male player and continues to be the atmosphere of open minded friendly players like no other guild on Tera will be like. It makes me sad to see so many other guilds humiliating female players or so against helping and teaching people how to play Tera. But our guild will always offer to teach people who are willing to learn.

Don't get me wrong this article is not meant to recruit people since in the end whether people apply to the guild or not they still end up going through me to see the kind of person they are in the first place we never just auto accept people into the guild without first talking and seeing the type of person and what expectations they have. This is more of a what to watch out for type of article and reasons you might want to join a guild in the first place. And I figured what better way to explain then use the experience of my own guild.

Usually the type of guild is one of the biggest ways of defining the type of guild your looking to join some of these might be:

Social Guild's-These Focus on social conversation being the main purpose most people login to do nothing but sit and chat with other players.
RP Guild's- These guild's enjoy role playing with other players whether its on a guild wide basis or whether its individually.  RP can also extend to the more adult content type as well depending on the guild.
PvP Guild's- PvP guild's main focus will be the fighting of others in GvG's open world PvP or battlegrounds they usually do not stress any PvE and are usually pretty strict when it comes to rules.
PvE Guild's- PvE guilds are the type which either don't allow PvP get upset when someone PvP's and are more dungeon and raid based guilds ones which place little or no interest outside of player vs monster.
Leveling Guild's- Leveling guilds are usually based mostly on helping low levels level. In Tera Online questing is hard to accomplish without being the same level so not many guilds like this have a purpose in Tera Online.

A guild can be more then one of the above depending on the guild. For example Dragonfury is a PvP, PvE guild that is non elitist and casual. What that means is we don't turn Tera Online into a second job we don't tell you that you have to show up at a certain time or during different parts of the day and don't force participation in things. We are not a strict guild its more like a group of people that enjoy running dungeons doing pvp and having fun together. Every guild will have there own rules our guild rules are more simple then most. Such as needing to at least be able to listen in Teamspeak for certain dungeons like MC or KN raid's since explaining is much better done over microphone and much better when you can call out taking buffs in MC or skip of buffs. The only other rule that we have is that people have to be nice cause we don't recruit elitist people that won't help or teach others not so much of an unreasonable request.

Most people that don't fit into our guild's type usually will not last long. Elitist types usually think we suck or want something more strict even if they really are not great players cause most elitists only think they are really good when they usually are the ones just looking to be carried by other guilds. The people who are mean, or cause drama usually end up getting kicked out. And the antisocial people players who never chat with anyone or never speak up to go on any dungeon runs usually leave thinking they are not part of the guild. But that is your own fault our guild is not a static everyone is willing to run with anyone that's interested if your a nervous person I will usually end up telling you to whisper someone if you do not feel comfortable. Like talking to an officer or letting me know as a guild leader.

If the guild leader does a poor job at running his guild then that guild will reflect poorly if your a guild leader that does not do anything but insult his members then chances are your guild most likely has a terrible reputation or no reputation at all if no one really knows your guild. A good guild recruits members itself without having to spam global chats.  Some of the guilds in my own server have some pretty poor quality guild leaders one example is that of Royalty who's guild leader has even on quite a few occasions called his own guild members crap. But part of the issue that many of these guilds have is they will recruit anything and everything they don't care the quality of the players so they have many trolls, bad players, and people that are just mean.

Other guilds can be so strict that if you die during a GvG its an instant kick out of the guild or require you to put gold into the guild bank for each kill you give out like Asylum was or Man Up some others will put people they feel suck in the recruits guild and only allow the best of the best in the main guild like for example Shatter or Overpower. Another great example of a terrible guild is that of Forte that the members will actually insult female players or attempt to sexually harass them maybe can't speak for everyone but I think most people wouldn't want to join a guild like that.

Some of the reasons you would want to join a guild might depend on what your interested in and the type of guild you pick will depend on that as well. But guilds in Tera only have one main purpose outside of the friendship and company of other players and that is the vanarch system. It's not really worth mentioning much because it will be replaced with the alliance patch sometime in the next few months. But if your interested about the vanarch system you can find it here. I will make a newer post to explain about some of the new alliance patch changes which we can expect.

Guilds can still be a great way to get the dungeons and raids completed since the new KN10 and 20 man raids require some smart players to avoid all of the abilities and be able to iframe out of them. Not to mention when your in a guild you will not have to pug with the retarded players who could not get in a guild because they usually get carried all the time and lack all the skills a real player has. And then of course there's the alliance patch which will really end up stressing the point of being in a good guild and having ally's and putting daily work towards doing dailies everyday which includes PvP dailies too. The GvG system currently has no rewards for winning so until the alliance patch is added PvP is mostly just about epeen and has no major point currently.

But hopefully some of the information above will help you in trying to decide on which guild and also be some good information about reasons you might want to join a guild. I will eventually add some information about the alliance patch and some of the nice updates we will be getting.  But until then good luck with Tera and also enjoy this weekends double drop's.

Kelsaik’s Nightmare Another Great Patching Error

Anyone who was using modded files as well as people who have not modded any files are having the annoying corrupted file problems again. And Enmasse says you should replace the game.version file then repair the client to fix it. But this does not fix the issue for many people instead when they zone into the actual raid they crash and are unable to log back in. This is very annoying making it unplayable for many people.

And because of this some of my own guild was having problems joining our raid for Kelsaik. So what I did was I compiled a patch which includes all of the packed files which came in this update this way if you have tried everything and are at the point that you are thinking of uninstalling the game and re-downloading it all over you could try this patch i made which will directly patch all of the files modified during this update. Keep in mind it replaces all of the korean modded files and I'm not sure if there's a new Ktera update for them yet or whether its safe to patch them back again I'll find that out and update this in the future and provide more information. But if your using a 64bit operating system you will want to use this installer: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0BwGeHg1m4YFLWnNrMnNzbU05dkk/edit?usp=sharing

I was going to make a installer for 32bit as well but because of the large file size I decided to just provide you with a manual patch since you can just extract it into the Tera folder which should be easy.  Which you can download from here https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B90u9z2fsJ4bcUplb3RwWEtZVGM/edit?usp=sharing

Hopefully this will make you able to login and play properly with it. I know I was able to login and do the 10man fine without any crashing. And it was a lot of fun hopefully you get to enjoy playing them too!

Update: It seems I missed patching the newer Tera.exe file which goes along with it so in worst case use the patch above then use the repair and it should upgrade that one file without you having to uninstall and reinstall. One of my friends said this saved her when she was able to uninstall the whole game so it will be beneficial to use.

Manaya's Core Shandra Manaya Dungeon Guide

As a guild leader of my very own guild teaching my guild members is a normal daily thing when someone wants to go. And because I'm always explaining the fight to people I figured it would be a great idea to share a guide with all the bloggers that are nice enough to come and help out with some of my other posts and such.  For this guide I'm going to just focus on the queen since she has quite a few different abilities and two different stages.

I usually take guildies through the normal mode to help them learn because it can still be a rough fight for someone that hasn't done it. For healers they usually get taught duel healing with DPS that have done the queen before so it's not a whole bunch of people at once. Its hard to carry multiple people that don't know the fight. And with teaching DPS we usually don't take more than one because of the sense of frustration which can happen where people get upset with each other we always bring the people that aren't going to get angry while teaching someone new or aren't going to rage quit.
The queen fight has different roles depending on your own personal class. The first I'll go over is one of the biggest roles of the healer throughout the first phase. Healers during phase 1 need to be kiting the adds around the room in a circle while everyone else is on the queen. The kiting could be done by another class like a sorcerer but one way or the other a healer should learn how to do it so all of the DPS can focus on burning down the queen who's in the center in egg form. As a healer you need a certain crystal setup for the first phase. You will be using:

In weapon:
1x Swift Crux
3x Threatening Crux

In Armor:
1x Fine Fleetfoot Crux
3x Stalwart Crux

And when you get out of the first phase you want to switch to your normal crystal set up. Don't worry you have a few seconds before the queen comes down to quickly switch your crystal setup. The crystal setup is the same for mystic or a priest so it doesn't matter too much. The kitting phase as a priest consists of using self heal to pick up the hate. As a mystic it consists of dropping motes. The first phase is easiest with a mystic since the DPS if they need heals can go to the edge of the map and pick up the healing motes. As a priest you give them the buffs and try to drive by heal without getting killed it puts more stress on a priest which can make them mess up. So priests require a team which doesn't need to be healed constantly and can avoid most of the queens center attacks.

During the kiting for a healer at a certain point which is dependent on how fast the DPS are killing her you will get a message that says the gullets have spawned and a few moments later you will hear something that sounds like a door opening before they come out as a healer the trick is to dismount and heal yourself so you pick up all of the gullets and then let them drop in a long line which makes a trail of poison then you keep kitting the adds in the poison until they are all dead. Once that happens the whole thing starts again keep in mind if your duel healing to teach someone the other priest needs to stand and watch they can't be healing or it picks up threat even without threat crystals. And if DPS is really fast there isn't much time in between for a priest or healer to kill the add's with the poison before another set will pop on top of a healer. But if the DPS are good they can usually burn it down to end the phase quickly instead of making it a long and agonizing fight.

At the start of phase 2 as a healer you buff everyone before she comes and then are mostly worrying about keeping everyone alive. The only other phases which a healer might need to know is the debuff phase which I'll cover after I go over DPS role since usually you don't make your healer focus on debuffs unless someone dies. The other important thing is when she starts to do her power buffing a healer needs to wait until she hits two stacks and remove it quickly or she gets a empowered version which will make her normal attacks a one shot. If you mess up this cleanse you will want everyone just kitting the boss until she loses it.

If you look at the queens hp box at the top right the debuff that has 2 stacks is her buff that normally would have to be removed just as it hits two or else like this screenshot most or all of your party could be dead because she hits very hard. It takes time to get used to the timing on it especially since your worrying about keeping the party alive as well as removing the buff. For priests it's a ranged skill and mystic it's a aoe skill they have to use while being on top of her so you always want to make sure that your close enough you can use it when her health is to the point that she will start doing it.
Let's talk about the DPS's role in the phase 1 of the queen. For a DPS you will want to add a Swift Crux into your weapon to help with the movement speed while in combat and you will want to use Anarchic Crux in your armor.

If you're a ranged DPS sorcerer you will not be using fireblast unless your healer wants to time your fire blasts with their healing just cancel casting fireblast will rip threat from a healer and get you killed. However if your healer gets stuck and dies you as a sorcerer can pick up threat while the rest of your team revives the priest. As a ranged you will be on the edge of the ring around the egg DPSing and placing the pink puddles in area's that the healer won't want to kick you in the face. You want to avoid placing them on the edge where the healer is running because they will dismount and kill your healer. You also don't want to put them in the middle on top of DPS cause they won't be able to DPS.

For melee DPS and our fearless tank DPS its possible the queen will drop puddles on you too usually its whoever has the top threat so backing out and placing it on the outer ring where the ranged won't get stuck in it and not too far out that the healer will have problems is what you will want to do.
I didn't think to take screenshots of the queens egg abilities but in the future when I teach someone I'll get some screenshots instead of just a written explanation of her skills. The queen doesn't always do them in order either she can troll like a boss. But usually she will do a close range aoe stun then a center aoe which you don't want to be standing in its pink color and lasts a few seconds then after she usually does a donut which you want to be either completely outside or in the center at the egg or it will nearly one shot you in normal.

Hard mode everything is faster and is a one shot so you have to do it perfectly. She will do like white waves from different corners and usually you get arrow tells which tell you where they are coming from. She throws in some all corners low range ones as well. As a DPS you just avoid them standing on her corner near her back you can avoid the claws from above and most of her wave line attacks without having to move that much. And when she's around 6% everyone moves to her back side which is indicated by a line of shadow and burns her.

DPS should line up, recharm and get buffs before she comes up as well as the healer should revive any dead hopefully there won't be any if you've successfully avoided all of her abilities. With phase 2 started you'll end up with all of her various annoying skills that either hurt or kill. And everything in hard mode will kill which is why if your learning it don't do hard mode. The hardest skill for DPS especially berserkers to avoid is the death ball she curls into a ball and then releases a poison which stacks in normal if you get more than one tick you will die but in hard mode your dead if you get hit at all. This is the biggest killer during the fight for berserkers you want to always have your running speed up and use your leaping strike to get yourself out of range. I play a berserker so I feel your pain other classes have dash and other abilities making it easy for them but for us we are limited to our slow running speed which you can slightly fix by making your boots enchanted all with running speed.

This is the tell just before she spreads poison letting you know to get out of the way cause she's going to release in an aoe. It is possible for her to do it at any point and I've had some bad ones that she did it after every single ability which gets really stupid fast.

When she releases it looks like this like a dust cloud covering a wide area and you don't want to get hit when she releases or it will hurt. Best advice for a berserker is attack like she's going to do it every time you attack so.. Charge thunderstrike run in hit her and get out and keep doing that so you never get caught at ground zero of the queen when she does it because there's no way out if your too close.
She does some ranged attacks that she will throw a bomb never stand in her red circles cause they will kill a cloth armor player and hurt another DPS and to make it easier on your healer try to stay together as much as possible so your healer can heal everyone without having to chase you to the edge of the other side. Berserkers and tanks can block most of her attacks using there shields but the death ball you always need to get out of because it can't be blocked.

One of the other annoying moves she does is she will pick someone and then fly and try to crush the person she chases for a little bit then does a hulk smash so just use a backstep or run out if she targets you and for our fearless berzerker you can just block it like the picture below.

Besides the death ball another major killer of people is the donut she does this consists of the same kind of donut from first phase only this time its red color and its get near the middle of her first or if your max range just stay out and then the second part is move out of center to avoid getting hit. I have pictures to show you. First picture middle safe red donut bad:

And the next which happens after it which is get out of the center:

Arrows pointing out tell you not to be in the center.
At a certain point in the fight she will start doing a shield phase that needs to be broken. If you fail to break the shield she will go crazy and do a map wide aoe of the death ball in normal it is possible to heal though it but its better if you have the DPS alive and burn the shield then let her do her aoe death ball which is pretty close to killing everyone if you're not bunched up and getting heals. Energy stars or mystic power buff can help your DPS burn the shield faster and DPS want to hit from behind of course.

When she's not in one of her phases like this DPS are better off attacking from her back side instead of standing behind her because she has a tail whip and split which does really nasty damage and can put a poison debuff on you.

She will also do a laser attack which is a frontal from her in 3 beams in normal it hurts but it's not fatal depending on how your hit by it. Healers can be killed regardless by it if they are caught in it. But it's pretty easy to avoid just move out of the way.

Another ability that she does will root a person to the floor if they get hit by it the skill looks like a circle with a fence tanks and berserkers can block it but everyone else needs to get out fast.

The only other ability I didn't manage to get a screenshot of because I'm usually trying to get out of it really fast. But she will start by going under ground and moving to a certain person she picks at random this does not do anything so don't be afraide to let her come to you and save your escapes. When she pops up she will do either the jump skill which is explained above or she will put a red circle under your feet which follows you. Wait until the circle stops following and then when you see her put a orange/ green poison circle under you then use backstep or escape. The ability hits for a good amount and puts a poison debuff on you. She tries to trick most classes into backsteping when she goes under ground so don't be fooled by her  and make sure you save your escape abilities. As a berserker you could use the leaping strike glyph to reset it then just leaping strike out of it to avoid taking most of the damage just as she puts it down. I'll make sure next time I go I'll get a screenshot to put here for that skill.

The biggest part of the queen will be the debuff phase at different phases during the fight she will do a ring which everyone will have to take a debuff or she goes crazy with the aoe death ball for the whole room if you mess it up.

Usually when you're in a group you will be given a number 1, 2, or 3 and depending on the number that will be the ring you stand in. The center is 1 the outer ring is 2 and anywhere outside of the queen is 3. While taking 3 you just stay out completely and don't move in at any time during the fight.

During the debuff's someone might be told to skip what this means is you don't want to take any debuff and how you accomplish that is you wait for 1 and 2 to go off leaving a white area in the center then everyone but the person whose taking 3 moves into the center and then she will aoe the 3rd debuff on the outside of the map. If she does two debuff phases one right after the other you can do one then skip the other because in normal mode your taking 20k damage every time you do the debuff so there's no need to take extra damage if she decides to do this buff back to back. When she goes to do the debuff the next time if you had 1 then you take 2 if you had 2 then you're going to take 3 and if you had 3 you will take 1. That cycle will keep repeating until she's dead if someone dies another person will have to step up and take the debuff cause everyone has to have the proper colors or she will freak out.

It is possible for a healer to take debuff 2 and 3 in extreme cases. They would wait till 2 goes off then back step into 3 but it's better to just have everyone learn how to do it in preparation for hard mode.
Near the last 10% of the queens fight she starts what is known as the walk where she starts walking to the edge of the map and then gets an empowered buff which makes her attacks faster and she hits like a truck you want to DPS her and burn her at the last few percents so she doesn't get to the edge of the map.

The only other advice I can give is you want to keep the queen in the center as much as possible if you get caught behind her on a side and she death balls you won't be able to get out and you will die it's better to give your team more freedom to move around and position themselves.
You can always check out video's on the fight and if you'd like to see some of the ones from our guild Dragonfury-MT server you can catch them on twitch.tv/shizen579  which our streamer does as mystic point of view and also sorcerer point of view.

How to use a macro to masterwork using common scrolls

Some people have been asking me to make a guide on how to macro common scrolls to try and masterwork an item. Without making a macro its time consuming clicking each scroll until the item masterworks so with this guide I'll show you how to automate the process so you can go and do other things and not have to babysit it.

This guide is for the Axife Mouse Recorder Demo so if your using any other program's besides this one you'll have to figure out on your own how to macro using that program because each program will work differently. This mouse clicker is not pixel based so you will not have control over your mouse so you cannot tab out and do other things.

The first thing you'll need to do is open Axife Mouse Recorder you will see a screen like this:

Click on the very first one since we will only need the simple functions to macro the simple task of using common scrolls on an item. And a small box will pop up with some functions that allow you to record:

Then you'll want to click on the record button and click into the game so that what you do effects the active Tera Online window.

To make it easy you want the item your enchanting in the top corner then next to it common enigmatic scrolls and next to it common identification scrolls. We first click the common enigmatic scroll and use it on the item making it the silver question mark you see above. Then we use the common identification scroll to identify it then we tab out of game and stop recording with the program. Then you put the number in the box below the record for how many times you want it to repeat the process like if you have 100 scrolls you want to set it for 100 and if you have 1000 scrolls you set it for 1000. Once you hit play it will continue to use scrolls on the item until either the item is masterworked or until it runs out of scrolls.

Masterworked items cannot be rerolled with common scrolls so once an item masterworks the macro will be unable to continue using scrolls on it so you don't have to worry about wasting scrolls that could be saved for the next item.

Lastly just wanted to say that this isn't a hack or anything of that kind its just a process of repeating the same tedious task over and over without doing it by hand. If your unsure about using any macro programs then just don't use them this guide was intended for people that wanted to know how. If you have questions concerns or want to brag about your success feel free to leave a comment.

Update this is still working as of 8/12/2013 Masterworked the mayhem sword in 200 CES also someone was kind enough to demonstrate how to use the program with a youtube video you can watch it here

Tera Online Languages Guide

While the English North American version of Tera Online is targeted for English speaking players it is not rare to find people which speak other languages in Tera or any game for that matter. And while many people are usually upset by this fact in the end they will need to learn to get over it. In spite of this fact some people are interested in learning new languages or at least would like to have a way to translate some of these languages so they at the very least can determine what language the person is speaking.

So this post will be dedicated to providing some information which will help you translate and understand basic sentences in different languages as well as be useful for players of those languages to understand how they translate to English.

Why should I Buy Tera Online?

Tera Online is now free to play so many people might be wondering why anyone would go and buy Tera Online from a store. Something that many people do not realize is the limitations that a free account in Tera has. One of the biggest differences is the amount of character slots you can have with the free account. You can only have 2 characters with the free account. You get no special mount's or interesting titles. When trying to sell items in the trade broker you can only list up to 10 items at once. Another important thing to note is the number of bank slots is 72 Slots with the free account and you have to buy more to increase the size of this same with the character slots which can get expensive especially if you use more then one account like me. You also can't send more then 10 Gold per message in game which is annoying.

With any physical copy you get a free mount the Terminus Mount you have the maximum character slots which is 8 and you get the maximum slots for your bank of 288 Slots. For founders accounts there is no gold limit on mailing people gold in game. You can post up to 30 items on the trade broker at once instead of the limited amount of 10. And you get the bonus title of founders. But currently Tera Online has stopped producing these copies so they are becoming very limited and eventually it might not be possible to obtain founders status. This means if you don't get a physical copy soon you might have to buy each of the addons to your accounts which will cost you much more then spending 40 or 50 on buying a physical edition.

The physical editions also came with a added bonus which many people did not know about. If you enter your Tera Online code in backwards you are rewarded with even more special prizes in-game. You get a free Tawny Huntress mount which is a very cool looking female lion mount. Two emeralds which sell to the vendor for 1k gold each. And two semi-enigmatic scrolls which are rare scrolls which can be used to change the stats on jewelry.

Sometimes it's still possible to find some of the games on ebay for sale but I already bought all the copies from my local stores. If you enjoy Tera Online you should consider going to buy Tera Online before they all sell out and then your disappointed in the future.

Easter in Tera Online and the Egg Event

Anyone that has been around for any of Tera's older events like the Xmas Santa event or the Halloween ghost event knows that the events are usually rich with rewards. But now that Tera has gone free to play events seem to have gotten more about wasting time and less about rewards.  The spawn rate of the egg monsters have been decreased and the time they respawn is now 5 minutes where it used to be only 2 minutes a really bad nerf.

The loot tables for the egg's seem to have been changed now bronze eggs can drop more decent items but gold eggs drop a lot of crap which is pretty useless or worthless. Many of the egg monsters will despawn or drop nothing when killed making it more annoying and less fun. And so far that I've seen no cosmetics have dropped from any eggs. Other then the small chance of possibly getting a master enigmatic scroll or some strongbox keys nothing really amazing drops and the drop rate is really low of the good items.

But rather then just make this a whole rant about how they ruined the event I will at least help out the people that might be interested in investing time on this event. While a lot of the really populated map's that had a lot of spawns got nerfed really bad I did find some area's that have spawns that are worth your time if your interested. Some of these maps include:

Dragonfall
Seeliewoods
Freeholds (north of Chebika)
Basilisk Crag
Elenea area's are fairly good too
Tempest Reach

Keep in mind each channel has different spawns and spawns aren't always static some egg monsters wonder in a range of 40 meters so sometimes you'll have to move around a bit they do appear as a orange color star on your map as you can see from the pictures so you don't always have to see them before you know there's one in the location.

The event does give you eggs just for logging in daily and this is per account so if you have multiple accounts it would be wise to login to all of them to get the free eggs. You might also want to wear your PvP gear while doing this event because some have even tried to steal my eggs during the event. Its better to be safe then sorry in this case in PvP events are a battleground.

But you won't find me egg hunting during this event as for everyone else happy egg hunting and good luck finding all the gold ones!

A cheaper way to masterwork items

The prices of master enigmatic scrolls keep rising because now the demand is greater then ever with all the new players trying to masterwork all of their items. On Mount Tyrannus alone scrolls are over 500 gold each and while it is possible for classes like a lancer to solo KN for scrolls most other classes spend a more time consuming amount of time to farm scrolls because they have to have a group to do it. This is true for priests and mystics because they do the least amount of DPS. Some of us have a life outside of Tera and can't devote unlimited time to farming so this guide will help people who have limited amount of time or people that just want a cheap solution.

I'll start by saying Tera is RNG while people are gonna come in and bash this by saying lower chance means it won't ever masterwork the difference between master enigmatic scroll's and common scrolls are only a 2.5% difference. Common enigmatic scrolls can be bought from the vendor these are only a 0.5% chance of masterworking an item but you are getting more chances to masterwork then using one master enigmatic scroll. Think about it like this it costs about 520 gold for a master enigmatic scroll that is one attempt at 3% chance of success for 500 gold you are getting 100 attempts at 0.5% chance. If it ends up costing you 800 or more common scrolls it's still more chances then if you got the same amount in master enigmatic scrolls.

We don't really know how Tera's RNG system works but one thing I know for sure it's a pretty dumb system which even with master enigmatic scrolls you can fail over 100 times and RNG from person to person seems to differ a lot but we most likely will never find out the exact RNG formula usually games use a time based system using UID (user identification) serial over attempting to put a max limit on scrolls this means for most of us even the unlucky ones you have a better chance burning massive amounts of common scrolls over a period of time to masterwork items over using a possibly massive amount of enigmatic scrolls.

The one reason I believe that the system used is most likely based on time was I've had two of my own guild members masterwork at the same time while using common scrolls but the difference in the scrolls they used was much different one used 40 scrolls the other used 450. My normal luck usually seems to be later at night and that's always when I end up master-working items. Not to mention all of my previous experience in the game development industry and older games with trying to figure out the RNG socketing systems or enchanting / upgrading where usually time based systems its the seemingly most random way for a game to make a system. That people can't just easily master because we have no idea the exact formula and because of the use of UID it differs for each person. Even if one person could figure out what's lucky for themselves everyone else will differ time wise because each person would be built with a separate lucky time so to speak.

So anyhow most people might complain that its time consuming to spam 300 to 1000+ common enigmatic scrolls since it would require 3000 clicks to do 1000 scrolls but if you don't feel like putting time into clicking you could do what i do and use a macro to do it. A macro allows you to record a certain click action and then repeat it multiple times. Even someone without skills can set up a macro for doing this. I was working on the same thing last night with a friends priest to masterwork her conjunct boots. And you can leave it running during the day or night while your away from keyboard. You can't get in trouble or anything for using a program like this all your doing is automating your common spamming. If you have a macro program you normally use go ahead and use that one but if your new to this macro thing you might want to try Axife Mouse Recorder  they have a demo version which works fine I didn't notice limitations with it and its really easy for someone who has not set up a macro before all you do is hit record do the process of master-working with a common scroll then stop it and put in the number of times you want the program to repeat it which will depend on the number of scrolls used and it will keep doing it till all the scrolls are used up.

One thing to consider in the end is when K-Tera went free to play common enigmatic scrolls where removed from the vendor to force people to spend more money on enigmatic scrolls from random boxes and stop the use of master-working using common scrolls. If common scrolls had such a low chance that it was impossible to actually masterwork an item they wouldn't have removed it from K-Tera the fact we are lucky enough to still have them can save us a lot of money because you can masterwork using common scrolls then save the master enigmatic scrolls for the re-rolling.

If you've had success masterworking using common enigmatic scrolls feel free to comment about it in the section below. And if you just feel like raging about how you think this is stupid don't comment and just don't use common enigmatic scrolls. This is just meant for people that don't feel like wasting money on a only slightly higher chance. Some of the people I know who have actually succeeded:

Lulumia: used 100 MES scrolls first failed all of them used 650 common scrolls and Masterworked her regent staff.
My slayer: 5 scrolls rerolling a level 27 sword masterworked
Klau: 450 scrolls to masterwork chest
Sepheria: 850 scrolls to masterwork a chest
Jyu: 1350 scrolls to masterwork regent tip

Update: I wanted to share a screenshot of a conjunct chest I masterworked with common scrolls I left it running with 400 scrolls and it masterworked with 100 of them. People keep wondering as well if an item that's masterworked can revert to being unmasterworked the answer to that is no. Once an item is masterworked with common scrolls it completely stops rolling because a masterworked item requires master enigmatic scrolls to reroll it. Common scrolls are unusable on a masterworked item.
